Danny Welbeck is admittedly prepared to challenge fellow forwards Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette for playing time.
Speaking at a recent interview, the marksman said, “It's competition and I embrace it. Ever since I was a young kid, I've been playing for an academy with scouts all over the world that are looking for top players to come in.”
The Englishman continued, “You have competition throughout your whole life and it only makes you better. That competitive edge gives you extra motivation.” Many find Welbeck’s attitude in this matter nothing short of admirable since a considerable number of football players today expect to be handed opportunities without working for them.
The 27-year-old has registered five goals in 30 appearances this season but remains optimistic that he can find his killer form despite having to deal with a string of disheartening injuries in the recent past.
